Mental Health as core to the Transitional Justice and Reparation process

Embedding technical expertise to strengthen the collective healing over multiple generations

With our Nepalese partner Centre for Mental Health and Counselling Nepal[CMC-Nepal], we have started our project called "Psychosocial Counselling and Community Integration for Transitional Justice". The aim is to institutionalise trauma-informed and culturally-appropriate psychosocial support within Nepal's transitional justice architecture.  The project will strengthen counselling services for conflict victims throughout the Reparation process.

Manas' experts are providing:

  • Mentoring, training, and technical supervision in collaboration with CMC-Nepal to the national MHPSS expert team. 
  • Strengthening the TJ activities by embedding a trauma-informed and healing-centred approach throughout the systems involved.
  • Developing a system of documentation of the activities and interventions to provide insight into the social-psychological harm resulting from the insurgency and its consequences over generations.   

The project is funded by the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs through the Embassy of Switzerland in Nepal.
